See the Water
This site-specific, installation is based on the Papillion Creek and its tributaries, which flow through Washington, Douglas and Sarpy County, Nebraska. Being a modest water system its relationship to the surrounding rural and urban communities is a quiet one. Few people think about it as a source for inspiration, replenishment or sport. Its poor water quality problems are not even dramatic or irreversible like other US waters. So they are easily overlooked. Yet its ordinary story holds the possibility for extraordinary redemption. This installation directly references the restoration of the Papio’s flow patterns, the creation of biorentension areas for storm water runoff and the chaotic characteristics of nature.
